Applications are being sought for an architect or design practice to develop a cultural corridor linking Letterkenny’s main arts and cultural centres.
The Reimagine Letterkenny project will award a winning team with a budget to create an ‘attractive pedestrian asset’ linking An Grianán Theatre, The Regional Culture Centre (RCC) and the Donegal County Museum to each other and to the rest of Letterkenny Town.
The winning team will be a multi-disciplinary team which includes an architect or architectural graduate who would be required to explore creatively with the local community how this walkway could be used more by the town in 2020.
This Open Call is commissioned by Donegal County Council, with additional grant-aid support from
Creative Ireland’s, Creative Communities programme and produced by the IAF’s Reimagine
Programme.
The deadline for applications is Friday, 10th January 2020 and full details are available here: https://architecturefoundation.ie/news/reimagine-letterkenny-creating-a-cultural-corridor/.
The open call was announced by the Irish Architecture Foundation (IAF) alongside a similar project at Loughrea in Galway.
Nathalie Weadick, Director of the IAF, said: “The aim of Reimagine… is to enable local residents to bring about positive change to their local areas through collaborative engagement with professionals in architecture, planning, and design.
“Earlier this year we chose six towns throughout Ireland to participate in the project, and we’re delighted to be progressing the Galway and Donegal projects. This is a unique opportunity for an architecture practice to collaborate with a local community and display their ambition and creative mettle on projects that are going to have a lasting impact on the towns’ civic spaces.”
