Five organisations in Donegal are to benefit from new and additional funding of almost €300,000 in 2020.
The funds was announced under the Community Services Programme, which supports organisations to provide local social, economic and environmental services.
Minister for Education and Skills Joe McHugh has praised the local organisations in Donegal which have secured funding:
:: Cairde Le Cheile Committee Limited – €140,132
:: Pobail Pairtiocht Iar Dheisceart Dhun Na nGall Cuideachta Faoi Theorainn Ráthaíochta – €38,066
:: Clonmany Youth & Community Resource Centre – €19,033
:: Ionad Teampall Chróine – €19,033
:: Ionad Naomh Padraig – €28,549
:: Ionad Pobal Machaire Rabhartaigh CSP – €32,000
Cairde le Cheile – the largest beneficiary in Donegal – is a popular sports and social centre for people with disabilities located at St Conal’s Vestry. The organisation was born out of Special Olympics in 2003 in order to provide permanent services for people with disability in County Donegal.
“It is a great reward for Cairde Le Chéile Committee and all the tremendous work they do in the community to have secured €140,132 in new funding,” Minister McHugh said.
“The Community Service Programme is a first class support for groups doing their bit with a social enterprise model and by helping to meet some of the costs of staff in those organisations.
“The groups and the dedicated people working with them are doing great work to ensure services or facilities are available for the people in their area and others who come to visit.
“A number of other groups have also secured additional support for 2020 and all of this combined will really make a difference on the ground for the vulnerable and disadvantaged.
“It’s important to remember that some of these groups would not be able to provide the level of services they do without the funding of the CSP.
“Well done to all involved.”
