Barry McNamee will not be playing his football for Derry City this season.

Derry boss Declan Devine confirmed the departure of his former club captain in the wake of the 3-0 win over Finn Harps in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday night. McNamee has been linked with a move to Finn Harps, where his brother Tony is on the books.

Devine told the Derry Journal: “As far as I know it’s finished from our point of view. Barry, the last time I heard, was looking to get a job and play part-time. Barry is a player that has been around the club for a very long time and I’m sure he’s come here tonight to have a look. His brother is playing for Finn Harps so whatever the outcome is we will always wish Barry the best.”
