Orr strike gives Raphoe home win over Queen’s

Raphoe earned a much-needed home win this afternoon against Queen’s at the Royal & Prior, writes Charlie Collins.

Raphoe 2-1 Queen’s

And it was a come from behind success as well, with the away team taking the initiative in the 14thminute with a goal from Philip Campbell – the goal coming against the run of play.

Raphoe had plenty of the ball, but it took until the 34thminute for them to get level. The goal came from Johnny Long with a fine flick home when Keith Meehan had set up the chance.

A minute later Raphoe came within a whisker of going ahead for the first time, only for Tommy Orr to marginally miss out on getting the all-important touch to a Gavin Lecky centre.

The third quarter failed to find another goal, with Raphoe pressing and Queen’s soaking it all up and then proving to be a danger when they broke.

However, on the hour-mark, Orr picked up possession and fired a winner home to ensure Raphoe got the victory.

Raphoe Men’s Squad: Davy Moore , Tom Eaton , Evan Lyttle , Alan Meehan, Simon Goudie ,  John Long , Lee Stewart , Ian Mc Gonigle, James Wilson, George Patterson, Tommy Orr , Gavin Lecky , Keith Meehan.
