CAOLAN WARD believes Meath will be out for revenge in Sunday’s Division 1 clash at Pairc Tailteann.
Donegal drew with Mayo in Ballybofey on Saturday night as a James Durcan goal with the game’s final act snatched a share of the spoils.
Now, Donegal head for Navan to face a Meath side they defeated three times across League and Championship last year.
“Every game has pressure and Division 1 can be a real dogfight,” Ward told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“We played Meath three times last year and they’ll have that in the back of their minds. They’ll see this as a chance to get revenge.
“There isn’t much between us. The two of us came up from Division 2 and they’ll want to get some confidence on board this weekend.”
Donegal had the spadework done against Mayo as they led by three points deep in injury time before Durcan’s goal changed the script.
Ward said: “We put ourselves into a very good position to get onto two points. We didn’t get that and it was quite disappointing. The beauty is we have a chance to right the wrongs and improve.
“There was a real championship feeling with the intensity of the game. The fitness levels are high for January.”
