TRAFFIC calming measures are to be installed in Killea village.
Fianna Fáil County Councillor Paul Canning confirmed that the Council will progress the measures this year.
Councillor Canning explained that round 82,000 vehicles travel through Killea on a weekly basis.
While the speed limit through the border village is 50km/h, a survey conducted by Donegal County Council at Cllr Canning’s request showed that motorists travel through Killea at an average of 73km/h.
“There are vehicles coming in as high as 90km/h,” Cllr Canning said.
“There is a play area, with car parking constructed in Killea, and I would hope the traffic calming measures would come in conjunction.
“Traffic, simply, is travelling far too quickly through Killea. The ramps in Newtown work well and we also have traffic ramps coming to Carrigans in the next few months.”
