Death mourned of former sporting ace Paul ‘Feet’ Murrin

DONEGAL’S sporting world is in mourning following the death of Paul ‘Feet’ Murrin.

A feared competitor on the soccer and Gaelic football fields of the county, the late Mr Murrin passed away in his 50s after a short illness. 

A native of Killybegs, he lived with his family in Dunkineely.

A noted Gaelic footballer with Killybegs, he helped the Fishermen to win back-to-back Donegal SFC titles in the 1990s. Murrin played on the Killybegs teams hat won Dr Maguire in 1995 and 1996. The Killybegs club have described him as a ‘very talented, skilful and illusive forward…a player with speed to burn and a deadly eye for goal’.

Murrin, better known across Donegal by his nickname ‘Feet’, was a renowned goalscorer in the Donegal League. 

He featured for his home club, St Catherine’s FC in Killybegs, before playing for and managing Dunkineely Celtic. 

Paul ‘Feet’ Murrin is survived by his wife Caroline, sons Paul and Darragh, daughter Kim, his mother Peg, brothers Tim and John and his sisters Ann, Teresa and Grainne.
