The Finn Valley AC woman was the joint gold medallist in the women’s high jump while there was silver for Finn Valley AC’s Brendan Boyce and bronze for Peter Glass of Letterkenny AC.

Lecky jumped a best of 1.75 metres and was tied for tip spot with Pippa Rogan (Sli Cualann).

Daena Kealy (St Abban’s) and Shannon Sheehy (Clonliffe Harriers) shared bronze with 1.70m efforts.

Boyce, who has just come back from warm weather training in Guadix, took silver in the men’s 5,000m walk.

Alex Wright was disqualified with David Kenny (Farranfore Main Valley) taking gold ahead of world sixth-placed finisher Boyce.

The Milford man finished in 20:07.52 with Kelly pipping him in 19:45.57. Boyce next weekend will aim to defend his national 20km title.

Letterkenny AC’s Glass was the pole vault bronze medallist. Glass had a best of 4.55 metres and was beaten to the top two podium spots by Sean Roth (Dundrum South Dublin) who bested at 4.90m and Yuri Kanash (West Waterford) with 4.65m.

Tir Chonaill AC duo Conall Mahon and Geraldine Stewart had fifth placed finished in the triple jump and shot put respectively.

Meanwhile, Mark English was a surprise starter in the 800m heats this afternoon.

English was not expected to go under starter’s orders. However, the three-time European medallist breezed home in his heat.

The Letterkenny man won his heat easily and had the appearance of a man whose mojo is back as he coasted in 1:51.74 to secure a spot in tomorrow’s final.
