DONEGAL’S zone bowling team made history last weekend as they won the Irish Indoor Bowling Association’s (IIBA) Inter-Zone Championship.

Donegal took receipt of the Boomer Cup for the first time.

Donegal played exceptionally well and blew Armagh away in the final, with Donegal bringing their A game for a 57-29 win.

Armagh were going for a double with their ladies having previously beaten Donegal the previous weekend.

Zone convenor Denis Doherty, a Buncrana native who plays for Inch Bowling Club, was delighted to finally see his squad get a winner’s medal.

The Donegal team was captained by Raphoe man John Quinn, who plays for Ballylennon BC.
