A LEADING Donegal medical practice has urged people to keep a detailed diary in a bid to help curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Medics at the Scally, McDaid, Roarty Medical Practice in Letterkenny have advised people to keep an account of people they have physical contact with and places they visit on a daily basis.

“If this is taken on board, it would reduce the workload of those working tirelessly with the job of Contact Tracing in the weeks ahead,” they said.

“If this message was sent to all groups, clubs, societies and all in turn sent this message to all their members this would make a big difference in identifying people who needed to be contacted and reduce the workload of Contact Tracing.”

There are now eight confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Donegal.

Six people in the Republic of Ireland have now died from the virus and there was a steep increase, of 219, yesterday in new cases with 1,125 confirmed.
