New figures show that 25 healthcare workers in the North West region have been diagnosed with COVID-19.
The figures, released by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre, show that healthcare staff make up 20% of confirmed cases in the region.
Donegal has 81 confirmed cases of Covid-19 – the highest in the region compared to Sligo (28 cases) and Leitrim (13).
Of the known cases among north west healthcare staff, six are associated with foreign travel and 18 workers had no history of foreign travel in the 14 days prior to onset of symptoms. The travel status of one worker was not provided.
1,163 healthcare workers have confirmed Covid-19 diagnoses nationally.
Clusters of Covid-19 cases in healthcare settings are on the increase.
A further seven clusters have been identified in nursing homes around the country – bringing the total to 57, as of 3rd April. Two are located in the north west.
There are 43 clusters in Irish hospitals, including one in the north west.
Twelve out of the 236 total of known clusters in the county are in the north west region, according to the HPSC.
