Allow Donegal Daily to remember your lost loved ones

One of the most heartbreaking aspects of the Covid-19 crisis has been the tragedy that many people cannot attend the funerals of friends and loved ones.

As difficult as death is, wakes and funerals form a huge part of the grieving process here in Donegal.

Not being able to give a hug or recall special times with a close friend or family member during a death has been devastating for so many people.

We can never replace that personal touch, the fond or funny memory recalled or that simple, knowing nod to let someone know that we are with them in their time of grief.

However, in recent weeks we at Donegal Daily have been struck by how people have used our website to keep in touch.

Mr Michael Sugrue used us to issue an appeal to let others know of a simple facemask which could be made and he has received an amazing response from around the world.

We also shared the amazing work being done by all of our frontline staff now to mention the selfless work being carried out in the feeding the elderly by the various ChefAid groups.

We now want to offer our services to allow people to remember our loved ones who may pass at this time and whose wakes and funerals we cannot attend.

If you have a relative or friend who has passed recently then we would like to hear from you.

We would like to provide the platform to pay tribute to them and to allow others to leave comments remembering them at what is now a very lonely time for many.

We are asking people to send us details of the person who has passed away along with a phone number for verification to info@donegaldaily.com

Needless to say, this is a completely free service.

In some small way, this may provide some comfort when they are able to look back at this challenging time but know that their relative or friend was not forgotten.
