Two women who fled across the border in a garda chase have been fined by the PSNI for breaching coronavirus restrictions.
The women were passengers in a car which was involved in a pursuit after fleeing gardaí in Donegal on Monday.
The red Audi A4, which was first detected driving dangerously in Downings, escaped gardaí and crossed the border into Tyrone.
The car was abandoned in Clady village area two hours after the pursuit began. PSNI officers subsequently seized the vehicle.
Two females were subsequently issued with two fines for breach of the Health Protection (Coronavirus Restrictions) Regulations NI 2020, the PSNI have confirmed.
Chief Inspector Jonny Hunter of the PSNI said “This is a good example of cross border work with our colleagues in An Garda Síochána.”
The search continues for two males who were also in the vehicle yesterday. Gardai have described the driver as a man with a slim build and a heavy stubble.
Gardaí are also appealing for dashcam footage of the chase and appealing to motorists who passed a Red Audi with partial registration GHZ.
Gardaí are seeking any witnesses to the incident that could offer a description of the driver. Anyone who had dash cam footage who may have come across the chase is asked to contact Letterkenny Gardaí on +353 74 9167100 or Milford Garda Station on +353 74 9153060.
