GARDAÍ in Donegal have reiterated their worry regarding the high volume of motorists being arrested for drink and drug driving.

Over the last week, 12 arrests were made in Donegal for the offences.

Seven people were arrested for drink driving with five drug-drivers detected.

“This is a serious issue and there is no decrease week-on-week,” a Garda spokesperson said.

“We have seen no decrease in numbers being arrested for drink or drug driving. People are meant to be staying at home and this is definitely not essential travel.

“The figures are quite worrying.”
