Ballybofey Autofactors respond to rising demand for face masks

One of Donegal’s Leading Automotive Parts Retailers is now selling face masks as demand rises for the next stages of Covid-19 restrictions been lifted to allow businesses to reopen.

Ballybofey Autofactors has sourced boxes of 3 Ply face masks for sale in store and online.

This is a new move for the store following local customers’ requests for single-use protective masks.

The government is set to issue advice to the public from 18th May on the wearing of masks in certain social settings.

While medical-grade masks supplies must be protected for healthcare settings, guidance is being developed on wearing masks in shops and on public transport to protect others. Meanwhile, Chief Medical Officer Tony Holohan has said face coverings could form an “important part” of Ireland’s Covid-19 response when restrictions are eased.

Damien McElhinney, owner of Ballybofey Autofactors, said his team have worked hard to source effective masks for the future easing of restrictions. The 3-layer masks are not for hospital use but are intended for daily protection against droplets and virus when used in combination with frequent hand-cleaning with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.

“We’re happy to be able to provide these masks so people can feel safer while going out,” Mr McElhinney said.

The masks come in boxes of 50 and are priced at €59.95 for the box or €1.19 each. Purchases can be online at: www.ballybofeyautofactors.ie or by calling the store on Navenny Road Balltybofey on 074-9130741. Staff are taking orders and payments over the telephone and orders are left outside for collection.
