Termon’s terrific turnout raises more than €4k for local charities

If there are a few tired legs in Termon today then they have good reason.

Members of the local GAAA club came together to raise a brilliant €4,110 for two great causes with a twenty four hour relay walk/run.

The cash raised between the members’ terrific work will be split evenly between the Donegal Hospice and Pieta House.

The event started Sunday evening at 7pm at the Burn Road, with Maureen Gallagher and Eddie Harkin, doing the first stint.

The idea was that with the social distancing guidelines in place, no more than one family at a time were at the starting point.

The course was from the clubhouse as far as Doonwell and back, a nice gentle walk, and with the glorious weather it was a fantastic route to do.

Maureen and Eddie even had little inspirational signs along the way to motivate both young and old.

A great turn out of all ages, members of the community as well as players and their families took advantage of both the good weather and enjoyable route.

The final total was revealed shortly after 7pm on Monday evening at the clubhouse and an amazing €4,110 was raised and will be split between the two charities, when able to do so.
