THE funeral will take place tomorrow, Friday, June 12, for David Crockett.

Mr Crockett tragically died as a result of an accident at his farm on Derry’s Coshquin Road around 5 pm on Monday, June 8.

Following a private funeral at his home, the popular farmer will be laid to rest in Co Donegal.

The Health and Safety Executive NI (HSENI) said it is making inquiries into his death and offered its sympathies to his family.

A private family funeral will take place on Friday 12th June, 2020 at home, followed by burial in Burt Presbyterian Church Burying Ground.

Politicians and community leaders have paid tribute to the late Mr Crockett who was considered by many to be the voice of local rural affairs.

Mr Crockett was often interviewed about the effects of Brexit as his farm is split in two by the border.

Sinn Féin MLA Martina Anderson said Mr Crockett’s death had shocked and saddened the entire community while SDLP leader Colum Eastwood said his thoughts and condolences were with Mr Crockett’s family and friends.
