Victories for Donegal jockeys Harley and Orr

DONEGAL jockey Martin Harley was back in the winners enclosure yesterday evening, while Oisin Orr was also toasting a fine win.

Harley took victory in the Grace Harris Racing Handicap at Chepstow.

On the 17/2 Elysees for trainer Alan King, Harley had a slender win over the 18/1 Kim Bailey-trained Blazon.

Elysees led after two furlongs and increased the tempo over the two-mile distance to edge out Blazon.

Harley was also second aboard the 9/2 Sir Plato for Rod Millman in an earlier race.

This was Harley’s fourth victory since the resumption of racing following the Covid-19 lockdown and his third for King.

At Roscommon, Orr – the 2019 joint champion apprentice – won the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Fillies Maiden.

On the 7/1 Zenya for Dermot Weld, Orr had almost two lengths on Toora Loora (33/1). Orr kept Zenya well placed before making a move 200 yards from home and pushing clear over the closing stages.

“I had to take my time more than I wanted to, the way the race worked out, but it probably helped as she was green when I got there,” said Orr.

“She’ll improve a lot from the run and she’s a nice one going forward.”

Orr was second on the 100/30 Classify for Weld and only a short head prevented him from winning on Jarlath P Fahey’s Lyrical Attraction (6/1).
