All-Ireland GAA winner Brian Murray’s Garda son has been commended for his bravery in rescuing a woman from a flooded river.
Garda Ciaran Murray, whose father Brian is from Ballyshannon and is also a Garda, was honoured along with another colleague.
Garda Ciaran Murray is based in Clondalkin and was on duty last week when local woman Ann Lam who had fallen into the River Camac while out walking her dog.
A local man contacted Gardai and Garda Murray, who is a strapping 6’8″ tall, swung into action and was able to pull Ms Lam to safety.
Ms Lam was reunited with Garda Murray and his colleagues who helped save her.
Chief Superintendent Finbar Murphy praised the bravery his officers showed in the rescue while two members of the public who helped were also given bravery commendations.
