THE funeral takes place in Stranorlar this morning of Twin Towns GAA stalwart Michael (Mickey) Doherty.

A lifelong supporter of Sean MacCumhaills and Donegal, Mickey – late of Chapel Street, Stranorlar – was undeterred in his support of his beloved club and county.

Indeed, in spite of long-term health issues, he traveled far and wide in pursuit of both.

Mickey was perhaps best known for his presence at the tunnel of Sean MacCumhaill Park on match days, for many years accompanied by his good friend, the late Jack Hannigan.

Mickey passed away peacefully at his home on Monday after an illness.

Predeceased by his brother Cathal and parents John and Ellen, Mickey is survived and sadly missed by his brother John, sister Teresa, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

His Funeral Mass takes place at 11am in the Church of Mary Immaculate, Stranorlar with interment afterwards in Stranorlar Cemetery.

The Requiem Mass will be streamed live via the Parish Webcam at https://www.churchservices.tv/stranorlar
