NINE people were brought ashore by the Lough Swilly lifeboat crew yesterday after getting into difficulty off Donegal.

A small fishing vessel was reported in difficulty west of Malin Head.

The Lough Swilly RNLI crew was tasked by the Irish Coast Guard to respond just after 11am.

The vessel was towed to Malin Head pier with all nine persons onboard safe and well.

It was the second call out for the Lough Swilly team at the weekend.

On Saturday at 8.44pm, the Shannon Class All Weather Lifeboat launched after reports of a boat drifting not far from Portsalon Pier.

The boat was recovered and towed to safety. There were no persons onboard.
