BENJI O’Meara feels that his Red Hughs are in a good place as they face into their Intermediate Championship quest this weekend.

Red Hughs, the 2018 Ulster junior champions, face Naomh Muire this weekend on the back of a 2-14 to 1-10 win over Letterkenny Gaels on Saturday evening at Monellan.

“You need a good tight battle coming into the Championship so everyone knows where they are,” O’Meara told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“Hopefully that will stand us in good stead. The Championship will be a different side of football.”

Calvin Bradley hit 1-6 and Jack Gillespie scored 1-4 as Red Hughs took the win at the weekend.

Manager O’Meara is confident about the project he’s working on.

He said: “What we’re trying to do here is going to work and hopefully we’ll get the rewards at the end of it. The boys are buying in to what we’re doing and it will pay dividends.”
