Inquest of popular Inishowen man to take place in January

August 29, 2020

An inquest into the death of a popular Inishowen man killed in a car crash has been scheduled for January.

John ‘Rustard’ McLaughlin died following a two-car collision outside Malin Town on February 21, 2017.

John, who was a married father-of-three, was a hugely respected member of the local community and was heavily involved in the local GAA club.

Letterkenny Coroner’s Court was told this week that a man has pleaded guilty in the Circuit Court to dangerous driving causing the death of Mr McLaughlin.

Dr Denis McCauley said this now allowed the way for Mr McLaughlin’s inquest to go ahead.

Dr McCauley adjourned the inquest until January 27th next but warned that the inquest location still had to be finalised because of Covid.
