SHANE Duffy will become a Celtic player with the defender set to make a loan move to Parkhead.

The 28-year-old will join the Hoops on a season-long loan from Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Daily Record is reporting that Duffy has agreed a temporary switch and will link up with Celtic next week when he returns from international duty with the Republic of Ireland.

Duffy is set to feature for Ireland in Bulgaria in the Nations League on Thursday night.

It is understood that Duffy completed the deal remotely as he was unable to go to Glasgow due to Covid-19 restrictions within the Irish squad.

Derryman Duffy has strong ties to Donegal.

His late father Brian – who died suddenly aged 53 in March – hails from Letterkenny and his mother, Siobhan (Kelly) is from Raphoe.
