Donegal County Council has refused planning permission for a 21-metre high telecommunications mast in Castlefinn.
The local authority turned down an application by Cignal Infrastructure Ltd for the erection of a 21m multi-user monopole telecommunications structure, carrying antenna and dishes in the town centre. The application sought to have the mast erected behind Castlefinn Service Station.
The structure was intended to accommodate mobile network operators and broadband operators to deploy 3G and 4G technology including, as the application states: “future technology roll-outs that will be necessary for the delivery of more advanced telecommunications services.”
A decision on the application was reached on 3rd September. Details of the refusal have not yet been published by Donegal County Council’s Planning Department.
