THE Department of Health has started to publish Covid-19 cases by electoral area.

The Covid-19 data dashboard now allows users to browsed the incidence rate by Local Electoral Area (LEA).

The latest data is up to Monday, September 14 and therefore does not yet include the high number of cases confirmed across Donegal in the days since.

In the 14 days until September 14, there were 17 cases in the Letterkenny Local Electoral Area.

In the same period, there were 15 cases in the Lifford-Stranorlar LEA and six in the Milford LEA.

In the Glenties, Donegal Buncrana and Carndonagh LEAs, there were less than five cases.

Ireland’s average incidence rate is 52.8 cases of the virus per 100,000 population.

The Lifford-Stranorlar rate was at 57.9 in 14 days to September 14, the Letterkenny area was 57.1 and the Milford area 43.6 in the same period.

Confirmed cases have been geo-coded and allocated to Local Electoral Areas (LEAs) by the Health Information Unit (HIU) at the HSE.

Yesterday, there were three further Covid-19 related deaths in Ireland.

Since the outbreak, there have been 1,792 deaths and 32,271 confirmed cases.
