ALDI have confirmed that their store in Ballybofey has reopened for business after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.

The store was closed for a few hours on Saturday before reopening around 3pm on Saturday afternoon.

The store underwent a deep clean as a precautionary measure during the closure.

“I can confirm that a colleague in our Ballybofey store has tested positive for Coronavirus,” a spokesperson told Donegal Daily.

“As a result, we made the decision not to open the store on Saturday morning so that we could fully investigate and contact all colleagues.

“As per HSE guidelines, contact tracing has taken place and all affected colleagues are following this guidance.”

Aldi say that the health of their colleagues and customers ‘is our top priority’. Management liaised with the HSE and the store underwent what was described as ‘a professional deep clean’.

The spokesperson added: “We thank our customers for their understanding and apologise for any inconvenience caused while the store was temporarily closed.”
