Tributes are flowing in for Amelia Skinnader – a young woman with close Donegal links whose cancer journey touched the hearts of many.

Mrs Skinnader, aged 31, is the wife and soulmate of Luke Skinnader and daughter-in-law of Mary and Paul Skinnader from Ramelton.

Amelia (née Page) passed away on Monday on Anglesey in Wales. Originally from Essex, the much-loved former teaching assistant had spent the past two years living life to the full while undergoing treatment for terminal cancer.

Amelia and her husband Luke founded the ‘FVCK CANCER’ fashion brand following her diagnosis in January 2019.

Despite her health battles, Amelia defied medics on numerous occasions to mark major milestones in her life. She and Luke celebrated their wedding at Glenveagh Castle in Donegal in September 2019. Together, they built a business and online community based on positive attitudes and support for young people with cancer. Their clothing brand is dedicated to sharing cancer awareness and supporting young cancer warriors and their families.

Amelia’s sister Lucy shared the heartbreaking news of her passing on Instagram.

On behalf of the Page and Skinnader family, she wrote: “We are heartbroken, and devastated beyond belief that our beautiful, strong, one of a kind little sunshine passed away peacefully on Monday.

“She was of course surrounded by love and comfort throughout.

“Luke and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for the love and support and of course the positive vibes throughout her journey. We love you all dearly. Just as she did.

“We are all completely in shock and the pain we are feeling is indescribable so we would please ask for privacy and time for our family to grieve and be with eachother.

“As our little ray of sunshine would say ‘Mate, live your best life’.

“We adore you Amelia and we know that you certainly are a sky full of stars.”

A private funeral will be held in Wales on Friday 16th October.
