Donegal is set to be lashed with stormy conditions over the coming day as a Status Yellow rain warning comes into force tonight.
Met Eireann is warning that heavy and persistent rain will lead to some flooding and disruption during a period from tonight through to Friday morning.
Donegal and the entire west coast of Ireland will come under a Status Yellow alert until 6am Friday 30th October.
Rainfall accumulations of 30mm to 60mm are expected widely, forecasters warn, with higher values in mountainous regions.
“Thursday will be very windy and mostly overcast with outbreaks of rain. There will be some further heavy bursts, mainly in western parts, with a continued risk of localised flooding, but a few dry spells will develop in the east,” Met Eireann reports.
“Misty in places also, with hill and coastal fog. Mild, with maximum temperatures 12 to 14 degrees, in fresh to strong and gusty south to southwest winds.”
