Seventy-one students in Donegal have opted to sit the postponed Leaving Certificate exams, which begin today.
Fewer than 2,600 students nationwide have chosen to sit the papers, which were delayed from June due to the pandemic.
The exams will run over the next four weeks, with one examination on weekday evenings, Monday to Friday, and two examination sessions at weekends, on both Saturdays and Sundays.
Many students have opted to take an average of just one or two subjects.
Sixty adult learners and early school leavers in Ireland are also due to begin their Junior Certificate exams from today.
