Residents anger over speed van outside Letterkenny graveyard

Residents in Letterkenny and Glenswilly have expressed their anger after a speed van parked outside Conwal Graveyard on a number of occasions in recent days.

It comes despite assurances that speed vans would not park outside graveyards.

The pledge was made at a recent meeting of the Joint Policing Committee following similar incidents outside the graveyard in Kilmacrennan.

Local residents say the speed vans have been parked outside the graveyard on at least three occasions in recent days.

One resident said “I understand that people should not be speeding but sitting outside a graveyard is the height of disrespect.

“People are attending funerals and visiting the graves of loved ones and they have these speed vans under their noses.

“There are plenty of other roads around the county they could be parked up at.

“I thought it had been agreed that this would not happen again.”

The matter is to be raised at the next Joint Policing Committee meeting.
