A DISABLED pensioner was left shaken when he was assaulted by an intruder, who forced his way into his home.

The troubling incident happened in St Johnston on Monday night.

It is understood that the man opened the door slightly, believing a family member to have called.

However, another male forced the door open and the pensioner was struck on the face.

The man, who lives alone, was said to be left badly shaken and petrified after the ordeal.

“Gardaí are investigating an assault that occurred at a house in Railway Park late on Monday night 24th November, 2020,” a spokesperson for An Garda Síochana confirmed to Donegal Daily.

“The injured party did not require medical attention and investigations are ongoing.”
