Ireland restaurants and gastro pubs are facing a limbo after the National Public Health Emergency Team (Nphet) recommended against reopening this December.
NPHET is advising that food businesses should continue to offer takeaway meals only under the easing of restrictions.
The health officials’ warnings against any social gatherings are set to be at odds with government plans for the reopening of parts of the hospitality industry in the coming weeks.
The Cabinet Committee on Covid-19 is due to meet this afternoon to discuss Nphet’s advice. Reopening plans are set to be formalised ahead of an announcement tomorrow (Friday).
