Watch: Deele College share a song of hope and goodwill

Christmas at Deele College is normally a time when the school is in full swing with Christmas Carol Services and Christmas shows, but this year all of that has been curtailed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

But the students of Deele College decided they still wanted to mark the Christmas season with a message of hope and goodwill just in time for the Late Late Toy Show.

The video, which has the school’s talented musicians singing the hit classic ‘War is Over,’ is done to the backdrop of the new reality of life in Deele College as we get ready for the Christmas season. It is also a reminder of all the things that we need to be thankful for in life.

The fabulous vocals are performed by Ellie Barron, Stephanie Harper, Sophie Gallagher, Aine-Marie McBride and Ellie McBride and they were helped in this production by Miss Gordon, Miss Bonner, Miss O’Donnell and Miss Friel.

The video also features a poignant moment with Head Boy, Sean Meehan laying a wreath in the Deele College Garden of Remembrance, which remembers all the staff and students from the school who have died and who are remembered by everyone in the school community at this time of year.

Although Deele College can’t provide the usual Christmas cheer and fun, the video is a timely reminder for everyone to cherish the positives in our lives and appreciate everything we have, which is really important as people try to come to terms with a very different Christmas.
