THERE are plans to develop a new glamping site on Arranmore Island in 2021.

Planning permission has been sought for the erection of six pods in a proposal lodged with Donegal County Council by Jim Muldowney.

The proposed development, at Illion, Arranmore Island, would include six pods, with associated parking and also connection to a wastewater treatment system and polishing filter and all associated site works.

The local authority says a decision is due on February 2, 2021.

Glamping – described as a ‘luxury type of camping’ – has become very popular in recent years.

In October, plans were launched for the erection of 20 new pods in north west Donegal.

The Wild Atlantic Camp sought permission to construct ten additional pods at its site in Creeslough, whole a further application was lodged, by Edward and Nancy O’Brien, for the erection of ten pods in Magheroarty, Gortahork.
