THERE were 26 new cases of Covid-19 confirmed in Donegal this evening.

Nationally, six additional deaths and 183 new cases were notified to health officials today.

Donegal’s 14-day incidence rate is now 212.3 with 338 new cases in the county over the last 14 days.

While today’s national total of cases is the lowest since September 7, Ronan Glynn, the Deputy Chief Medical Officer, says that an IT issue means that today’s figure may have resulted in am underreporting of ‘up to 100’ cases overnight.

Of the cases notified today; 82 are men / 101 are women; 60 per cent are under 45 years of age; the median age is 36 years old.

There were 56 new cases in Dublin, 26 in Donegal, 13 in Limerick, 11 in Kilkenny, 11 in Monaghan and the remaining 66 cases are spread across 15 other counties.

As of 2pm today, 239 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 32 are in ICU with 10 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

The number of Covid-19 patients in Letterkenny University Hospital dropped to 33 last night from 38 the previous day.

Earlier today, eleven more Covid-19 related deaths and 456 new cases were confirmed in Northern Ireland.
