AS MET Éireann warns motorists of freezing fog, all main routes in Donegal are being gritted this evening.

Donegal County Council say that gritters were sent out at 4pm .

“All routes to be gritted…Assume no road is ice free,” the Council said.

A status yellow fog warning is in place and is valid until 10am on Monday.

Tonight will be ‘cold and frosty’ and Met Éireann said: “Fog will become dense again in places with lowest temperatures of between zero and minus 2 degrees generally. Winds will be light, mainly easterly in direction, becoming northeasterly later.

“On Monday, frost, ice and fog will slowly clear most places in the morning and it will be mostly dry with sunny spells.”
