Man to stand trial after incident at Donegal hotel

A BOOK of evidence was served on a Strabane man, who will stand trial following an alleged incident at a Donegal hotel.

Denis McDermott (26), with an address at Newtown Place, Strabane, appeared before Letterkenny District Court.

McDermott faces charges arising out of incidents at Kee’s Hotel, Stranorlar on October 23, 2018.

McDermott is charged with assaulting a woman, Lisa Doherty. He is further charges with assault causing harm and of producing an article, namely a drinking glass, during the course of a dispute.

Garda McGinley gave evidence of serving the book on McDermott. The DPP has consented for the accused to be brought before the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court on January 26, 2021.

Judge Alan Mitchell applied the alibi warning and McDermott was bailed on his own bond of €1,000.

A section 56 order, relating to videotapes of interviews, was granted and Judge Mitchell assigned solicitor Mr Frank Dorrian and one legal counsel.
