Big boost for Harps as Mark Anthony McGinley stays on for 2021

GOALKEEPER Mark Anthony McGinley can’t wait for another crack at the Premier Division with Finn Harps.

McGinley has been Harps’ player of the year in each of the last two campaigns and the Ards man has signed a new deal at the club.

McGinley kept six clean sheets in 2020 when he played every minute of Harps’ season.

“We finished this year very positively and felt maybe if we’d had a normal season we could have pushed on up the table even further,” McGinley said.

“We’ve made a good start on keeping a lot of the group together so hopefully a few others follow now and we can have another crack at it next year.”

McGinley is the seventh player to commit to the club from the 2020 squad and boss Ollie Horgan is delighted to retain the services of his number 1, who was believed to be a target for at least one other Premier Division club.

Horgan said: “Mark Anthony played a big role in our good run of form to end the season. It’s important for us to keep these lads at the club now for the new year and hopefully with one or two new faces we’ll be able to make a good go of it.”
