Students swap Christmas party for local goodwill project

Students at Finn Valley College in Stranorlar are giving back to the community this Christmas as a gesture of goodwill during the pandemic.

Every year it has been a tradition in Finn Valley College to hold a large Christmas party in Jackson’s Hotel or the Villa Rose Hotel. Students would enjoy a Christmas lunch, an afternoon disco and a massive Christmas draw with great prizes from local businesses and organisations in the Finn Valley area.

Unfortunately, this event cannot happen this year, but the students and staff of the school decided on a charity project instead.

Staff and students have donated money for two local charities – St Vincent de Paul and Cúnamh – as a thank you to all those businesses and organisations who so generously supported the school every year.

They are also encouraging all students, parents and staff to shop local and support the businesses who we always look to support us not only at Christmas but with other sponsorship at different times throughout the year.

So, on behalf of all the students and staff in Finn Valley College we would like to sincerely thank the local businesses for their continued support and wish them and their families a peaceful and safe Christmas and a very prosperous New Year.
