‘Keep off the pitch’ – Club appeals to public to care for new pitch

A SOCCER club in Donegal has appealed to members of the public not to run on their newly-relaid pitch.

Drumkeen United are looking forward to a return to action at St Patrick’s Park at some stage in 2020.

The surface at the venue was replaced in 2020 and the club played some of their home matches in nearby Killygordon.

The committee at Drumkeen United have become concerned with people using the new pitch for recreational activity lately.

They said: “A few weeks ago the lads who work at the Clubhouse noticed tracks on the pitch where it appeared that someone had been running on it.

“We would ask people to PLEASE not do this as the pitch is not ready for that type of activity yet. We have just spent a lot of money on it so we want it to be at its best when it is open again.”
