Many parts of Donegal are reported to be dangerously frosty this morning especially in and around Letterkenny and Milford.

A severe overnight frost has left some roads and many footpaths severely slippy with Gardai warning people to take extra care if they have to go out.

A Status Yellow low temperature and ice warning for all counties came into effect yesterday and is in place until 11am today.

Met Éireann is forecasting that tonight will be extremely cold with temperatures plummeting to between -2 and -8C.

It says there will be widespread frost and ice, with fog forming in some areas.

Tomorrow morning will be extremely frosty and icy, with freezing fog in parts.

AA Roadwatch says particular care is needed on secondary and minor roads.

Motorists are advised to slow down, leave extra space to brake and keep manoeuvres gentle while driving.
