News on the Leaving Cert may be announced this week as the government begins discussions on the reopening of schools.
Senior Ministers are meeting today to discuss exams, reopening schools and childcare.
The Government is placing a priority on opening primary schools on a phased basis, with schools for children with additional needs expected to open first.
An Taoiseach Michael Martin said that Leaving Cert options may be announced following the discussions at the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Education.
Meanwhile, Mr Martin said he does not see the economy reopening in any major way on March 5th. He told RTE’s This Week: “I think hospitality will have to wait longer and it will have to wait for an increased rollout of the vaccination programme.”
