A new school building for Gaelscoil na gCeithre Maistirí in Donegal Town has come one step closer to construction.

Joe McHugh, TD for Donegal, revealed news today that approval has been issued to the Design Team to now apply for planning for works at the school.

“This is real positive news for the Principal and Board of Management and the Parents Association within Gaelscoil na gCeithre Maistrí, where the project can now begin to proceed with the planning application process.”

The project was expanded last year to include a special needs base.

Deputy McHugh added: “The school community and parents have been fighting hard over the years to ensure the progression of this project and I had the pleasure of meeting them on various occasions before and during my tenure as Minister for Education.

“Comhghairdeas mór le Róisín, Colmán, agus an foireann scoile uilig, an Bord Bainistíochta agus Coiste na dTuismitheoirí dá gcuid tiomántas ar son an tógra seo.”
