Parts of Donegal will be covered in snow this weekend, according to forecasters who issued a new weather warning for the county.
Up to 5cm of snow will fall on the northwest on Saturday, with more expected on higher ground.
Temperatures will drop to lows of -2C tonight.
The first weather alert for snow and ice will be in force for Connacht, Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal from 2am until noon on Saturday.
Met Eireann is warning motorists of the risk of hazardous conditions. Sleet and snow are predicted to gradually clear during the afternoon with a gradual thaw setting in.
The overview for next week is “Less cold. Unsettled with spells of heavy rain.”
