Virtual 5k to honour second anniversary of Mark Doogan

A VIRTUAL 5k has been honoured to mark the second anniversary of the death of west Donegal man Mark Doogan.

Mark passed away on February 16, 2019 and organisers of the Run For Mark event will continue with their efforts.

However, as they cannot hold any memorial events this weekend, they have instead decided to stage a virtual 5km walk/run.

Donations collected will go towards Gemma’s Legacy of Hope.

Participants can do the walk or run any time this weekend and organisers stress that there is no obligation to run.

Entrants can send a picture of their times (Garmin, Strava, stopwatches or phones are all acceptable) privately to the Run For Mark page on Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/runformark/

Gemma’s Legacy of Hope is an Association set up to honour the memory of Gemma Boyle, who brought joy and happiness to her family and her community during her lifetime.

After a period of poor mental health Gemma died by suicide in February 2020.

Gemma’s Legacy of Hope has been set up to help shine a light of hope to individuals living and working in this community so that they are supported to find the courage and strength towards a path to improved happiness and fulfilling lives.

The Gemma’s Legacy of Hope venture is aiming to facilitate counselling service support in the Rosses and Fintown Primary Care Area.
