Six more Covid-19 deaths recorded in Donegal

The number of Covid-19 related deaths in Donegal has risen to 129.

The Central Statistics Office recorded another six deaths in Donegal in recent weeks.

Five people with confirmed Covid-19 passed away in Donegal in the week ending 19th February. Another Covid-19 death was recently recorded in the week ending 12th February.

The median age of those who died in Donegal is 83. 

A total of 8,279 cases of Covid-19 were recorded in Donegal up to last week.

While the number of new cases has fallen nationally by 20%, there were 115 new cases in Donegal in the week ending 19th February – representing a 14% rise compared to the previous week.

The median age of all people infected with coronavirus in Donegal is 39.

CSO analysis of the situation nationwide shows that 146 people with confirmed COVID-19 died in the week ending 19 February. 88% of deaths were among people aged 65 years and over.

ICU admissions have been decreasing since the week ending 08 January when there were 127 admissions to seven in the week ending 19 February.

There were 229 health care workers diagnosed with the virus in the week ending 19 February, this is the lowest weekly figure since the week ending 30 October.

In the last four weeks, there have been 1,689 Covid-19 cases linked to an outbreak in nursing homes, 382 linked to residential institutions and 414 linked to hospital or a community hospital/long-stay unit
There were 637 cases (14%) linked to an outbreak in the workplace in the last four weeks
