Donegal County Council staff are preparing to grit many main roads tonight as temperatures drop below freezing.
After a day of sunshine and clear skies, tonight will turn cold and frosty. Gritters will be out on the majority of main routes in Donegal from 9pm. Cill Ulta West and Na Rosa have not been included on tonight’s schedule. (See below for the route list)
Met Eireann reports that tonight will be a dry and generally clear night with the risk of frost developing in sheltered places.
“Mist and fog will form overnight becoming dense in pockets towards dawn,” the forecast said.
“Lowest temperatures of -1 to + 2 degrees Celsius in light easterly or variable breezes.”
Tuesday will have slightly cooler conditions in the north west.
“Tuesday will be dry with a mix of sunny spells and variable cloud. Highest temperatures of 6 to 8 degrees Celsius in light to moderate easterly or variable breezes,” said Met Eireann.
