A member of An Garda Siochana based in Co Donegal has been suspended from duty as part of a criminal investigation.
The Garda, who has served in the county for a number of years, was suspended last week.
Donegal Daily contacted the Garda Press Office about the suspension.
They confirmed an officer had been removed from his position but said An Garda Síochána does not comment on named individuals.
However, they confirmed that an internal disciplinary investigation is taking place into the member.
No details of the alleged incident were disclosed.
The spokesperson said: “An Garda Síochána can confirm that a member of An Garda Síochána based in the North-Western region has been suspended pending the outcome of a criminal investigation and an internal disciplinary investigation.”
