Donegal County Council is to carry out a safety assessment on the Lisnennan Road in Letterkenny following calls for more speed reduction and safety measures.
Mayor of Letterkenny-Milford Cllr Donal Coyle raised residents’ concerns with the road to the council this week.
Cllr Coyle said a recent accident occurred where a car went off the road, mounted a footpath and crashed into a sign.
“Obviously speed was a factor in that,” Cllr Coyle said.
The issue of speeding has been raised on the Lisnennan Road over the years. This week, the Letterkenny Roads Department has agreed to contact the Road Safety Engineer to carry out a Safety Assessment of this section of road and to identify what measures may be required.
